About me

Hi! My name is Michael, I’d love to help you learn mathematics! I have a wealth of experience both as a lecturer teaching university level mathematics, as well as in industry.

After completing a mechanical engineering degree, I began my working career as a product development engineer, working both in New Zealand and overseas on the development of technology for the appliance and semiconductor industries.

A career shift saw me return to the University of Auckland to complete a Doctorate in Mathematics (specialising in the area of Topology). Upon graduating, I worked as a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, lecturing a variety of mathematics courses, including MATHS 108, MATHS 208, and many more.

I then moved across the road to AUT, again as a lecturer in the Mathematical Sciences Department. Here I lectured a variety of mathematics papers, but focused on Engineering Mathematics (at all levels).

During this time, the Covid pandemic occurred, and there was a dramatic shift towards online learning. This gave me invaluable experience teaching mathematics online. During my time at AUT, I also held the position of Programme Director for the BSc degree.

After three years at AUT, I moved away from Auckland with my family, and since then have been tutoring students online. With experience teaching a wide range of courses to a diverse range of students, I can competently assist students in any undergraduate mathematics paper to achieve their goals.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
